Ulcinj salt factory (solana) is near to closing it’s production after 80 years of existence. Formerly was employed 500 workers, while today there are only 72, occupies an area of approximately 14.5 square kilometers of saltwater pools and was designed to produce 30,000 tons of salt per year.
Eurofund the majority shareholder of the Ulcinj salt factory is announcing plans to build exclusive tourist accommodation capacities, marina for yachts , nature park , outdoor sports and recreation.
In the purchase of Ulcinj salt factory was invested 12.5 million euros and not 800,000, as speculating in public. Proof of purchase, number of shares and the price is evident , said Chief Executive Officer of Eurofond Bojsa Sotra, stating that Eurofond the majority shareholder of the saline in Ulcinj wants to keep salt factory working until the arrival of saline strategic partner.
Salt factory itself economically is unable to survive. We want to include a segment of the tourist offer and build the marina for yachts, connect Bojana River with Port Milena canal which flows near the salt pans, with spaces for Nature Park, crabs and shellfish production, agricultural production, outdoor sports and recreation, as well as part of the tourist accommodation capacity, low construction and exclusive the rate of development, said Sotra, adding that such a project is presented to the world Conference in Qatar in late 2013th , and that has aroused big interest of large international investors.
Saline “Bajo Sekulic” AD Ulcinj is up for sale. Eurofond is seeking to sell Saline at a starting price of €199 million .
