A CABLE CAR LIFT WHICH WILL DRIVE TOURISM OF KOTOR AND LOVCEN AND HELP THE ENVIRONMENT

There are very few direct links from the sea to the mountains in Europe. But there will soon be one in Montenegro. The ropeway will begin in the village of Dub within the coastal municipality of Kotor, very near the road tunnel which connects Kotor with Tivat. Just under four kilometers up the rope, the ropeway reaches Kuk on Mount Lovćen, 1,348 meters above sea level.

  • Length: 3902m
  • Height difference: 1316m
  • P/hr: 1200
  • Number of cabins: 40
  • Predicted number of passengers in the first year: 400.000
  • Travel time: 11 min (which is much less time than it currently takes 1 hour by car)

Environmenal Benefits

Equally noteworthy are the environmental benefits in an environment as sensitive as the Lovćen National Park. Constructing the ropeway will almost completely eliminate the use of the winding old Njeguš road, and that will significantly reduce carbon emissions from cars and buses because it will cut down motorized traffic to a minimum.

Passengers arriving at the top station will enjoy one of the world’s most beautiful views: the Bay of Kotor, a place which, through the development of port infrastructure, has become a highly favored destination of international tourists.

Ceremonial opening of the Kotor – Lovcen cable car on July 13

This summer, on th 13 of July Kotor, a picturesque coastal city in Montenegro, will welcome a brand-new cable car attraction, further enhancing the region’s tourism industry and real estate market. The cable car, stretching 3,900 meters long with 40 gondolas, will have the capacity to transport 1,200 passengers per hour. The addition is expected to not only create a new tourist attraction but also increase demand for real estate in the city and its surrounding areas.

The cable car will commence its journey at Grbalj, Dub, providing passengers with a unique aerial view of the Adriatic Sea and the striking landscape of Kotor Bay. The journey will culminate at the plain called Kuk on the Lovećen mountain, standing at an impressive 1,348 meters above sea level.

Visitors can look forward to unparalleled panoramas of the Montenegrin coastline and its lush, mountainous interior. The project aims to improve accessibility to Lovećen mountain and its surrounding natural and cultural sites, making it an even more attractive destination for visitors and prospective real estate buyers.

The cable car’s construction is expected to boost tourism, create jobs, and increase the overall demand for property in the region.
